Deposited Missi the bear with the Joynes for her 5-week staycation with Ziggy and Dewey and thanked Anna for her brilliant suggestion that we drive to the West Coast rather than fly! Left a wet and cloudy Va Beach around midday and arrived in Maclean 3 1/2 hours later after a remarkably smooth journey.
Celebrated Tom's promotion, the start of our trip and the imminent return of the Cheshires and Albons to the UK. Ate a fantastic rack of ribs - possibly the last decent meal for a very long time - and then Tom, Caroline and Mark polished off a (20cl) bottle of Johnny Walker Blue Label (£400 a big bottle!) whilst Rachel quietly sipped her tea :)
